[Sidus TC Sync] Read Embedded Timecode and Audio LTC
How Sidus TC Sync reads embedded SMPTE timecode and decodes Audio LTC, plus LTC best practices.
Sidus TC Sync synchronizes media from either embedded timecode or Audio LTC.
Embedded timecode
Some cameras and recorders store SMPTE timecode in the media file's metadata. Sidus TC Sync reads that timecode during analysis and uses it to place the file on the timeline.
Audio LTC
Audio LTC is a timecode signal recorded as audio. It may be present on a camera audio channel, a WAV file, or a PolyWAV file. Sidus TC Sync automatically detects and decodes valid Audio LTC when synchronizing media.
Best practices for Audio LTC
- Record a clean, continuous LTC signal when your workflow requires it.
- Do not use an LTC channel as editorial audio.
- Avoid clipping, aggressive noise reduction, or sample-rate conversion before analysis.
- Make sure the camera or recorder frame rate matches the timecode workflow planned for the production.
A visible waveform does not guarantee readable LTC. The signal must have been recorded cleanly and at a compatible frame rate.
