[Sidus TC Sync] Troubleshoot: Timecode Was Not Detected
What to check when Sidus TC Sync does not detect timecode on a clip.
If a file does not synchronize automatically, work through these checks before manually syncing it.
1. Check the original media
Import the original camera or recorder file. Proxies, converted clips, and files that have passed through social platforms may no longer contain the original metadata or usable LTC track.
2. Check the timecode source
- For embedded timecode, confirm that the device was set to generate or receive timecode during recording.
- For Audio LTC, identify the audio channel containing LTC and confirm that it was recorded continuously and without overload.
- Confirm that all devices used the intended frame rate and drop-frame/non-drop-frame setting.
3. Reimport and analyze again
Remove the affected import, add the original file again, and rerun analysis. This eliminates a partial copy or changed source from the workflow.
4. Use a manual sync point
If the timecode was not recorded or cannot be read, align the clip using a slate, clap, or another known picture-and-sound reference. Mark it for the editor so it is not mistaken for a timecode-synchronized source.
