[SPD-1] Getting Started - What's in the Box & Setup

What comes in the box, intended use, attaching the belt clip, and mounting the SPD-1 in a sound bag or on a location cart.

The Deity SPD-1 Smart Power Distributor is a compact, lightweight power distribution box for production sound. It provides 6 protected DC outputs, a regulated USB-A 5V output, two locking power switches, and a full-featured smart fuel gauge on a color display. This guide covers what comes in the box, how the SPD-1 is meant to be used, attaching the belt clip, and mounting it in a sound bag or on a location cart.

What's in the Box

SPD-1 packing list: SPD-1 unit, SPD-T4BATT battery cup adapter, Warranty Card, DEITY logo stickers, DEITY QR code card

Your SPD-1 package includes:

  • SPD-1 Smart Power Distributor (1 pc)
  • SPD-T4BATT TA4F to HiQ Battery Cup adapter (1 pc)
  • Warranty Card (1 pc)
  • DEITY Logo Stickers (1 pc)

Intended Use

The SPD-1 is designed to distribute power to production sound equipment from smart or non-smart batteries. When you use it, please keep the following in mind:

  • Read all of the instructions in the product manual before use.
  • Use the product within the operating conditions and limitations described in the manual.
  • Improper use means using the product other than as described, or under operating conditions that differ from those documented.
  • Store the SPD-1 in a dry, clean, dust-free environment, and keep all liquids away from the product. Liquids entering the product can short-circuit the electronics or damage the mechanics.
  • Only use a microfiber or dry cloth to clean the product. Do not place it near any corrosive chemicals.

Attaching the Belt Clip

Attaching the reversible belt clip to the SPD-1

The SPD-1 ships with a reversible belt clip. Flex the clip outward to seat it over the mounting rails on the top of the unit, then release it to lock it in place. Because the clip is reversible, you can orient it to suit the way you rig the SPD-1 in your bag or on your cart.

Installation and Use

The SPD-1 is built for two common production sound setups.

Use in Sound Bags

SPD-1 connected to a battery inside a sound bag

In a large sound bag, connect a battery to one of the SPD-1 TA4 power inputs and route the protected outputs to your recorder, wireless receivers, and other bag gear. The SPD-1 is small and light enough to sit alongside your kit while the color display keeps battery status in view.

Use in Small Location Carts

SPD-1 mounted on a small location sound cart

On a small location cart, the SPD-1 distributes power to your mixer, recorder, and receivers from a single battery source, with each output individually fuse-protected. For details on the two power groups and their current limits, see the hardware and specifications articles below.
