[BP-TRX] TRX Modes Explained
The seven BP-TRX working modes (TX+REC, RX, Master TX, IEM, Camera Hop, TC Box, Rec Only) and what each one pairs with.
The BP-TRX is a single unit that can fill many roles. The TRX Mode setting tells the unit which job to do: transmit, receive, record, monitor, or generate timecode. This guide explains all seven modes and what each one pairs with.
Selecting a TRX Mode
Short press the MENU/SEL button to enter the TRX Mode option, then choose the working mode that fits your needs. There are seven modes:
- TX+REC
- RX Mode
- Master TX
- IEM Mode
- Camera Hop
- TC Box
- Rec Only
Once two devices are set to compatible modes, pair them so they can work together. See [BP-TRX] Menu & Functions Reference for the Pair procedure.
TX+REC
The BP-TRX acts as a transmitter with built-in recording. Pressing the REC button on the unit (or on a paired BP-TRX set to receiver, or the Up button of the DUO-RX) starts or stops the recorder. Pre-jammed SMPTE timecode is stamped in the header of the BWF file. The USB port outputs digital audio (USB-C A/D converter).
Pairs with: BP-TRX (RX Mode), Deity Connect DUO-RX, Pocket-RX.
RX Mode
The BP-TRX acts as a receiver. The REC button controls the recorder on the paired BP-TRX or HD-TX. The paired transmitter can be controlled through the receiver menu. The USB port outputs digital audio.
Pairs with: BP-TRX (TX+REC Mode), Deity Connect BP-TX, HD-TX, Pocket-TX.
Master TX
The unit can pair with up to 4 BP-TRXs (set to IEM or Camera Hop mode). Internal recording on the Master TX can be used simultaneously. Pre-jammed SMPTE timecode is stamped in the header of the BWF file. The USB port outputs digital audio.
Pairs with: up to 4 BP-TRXs set to IEM Mode or Camera Hop Mode.
IEM Mode
The unit pairs with a BP-TRX set to Master TX mode and receives its audio, for use as an In Ear Monitor (IEM). Four units can be paired to one Master TX. The USB port outputs digital audio.
Note: In IEM Mode there is no timecode output.
Pairs with: BP-TRX (Master TX).
Camera Hop
The unit pairs with a BP-TRX set to Master TX mode and receives its audio. Four units can be paired to one Master TX. The output can be a combination of timecode and audio, or audio only. The USB port outputs digital audio.
Pairs with: BP-TRX (Master TX).
TC Box
The unit acts as a standalone timecode device. The audio input supports timecode in for jam syncing, and the audio output can output the timecode.
Rec Only
The unit acts as a standalone recorder with timecode. Pre-jammed SMPTE timecode is stamped in the header of the BWF file. The USB port outputs digital audio (USB-C A/D converter).
